Thank you to everyone who came out on a cold December evening so close to Christmas for our Preview Evening. It was wonderful to see so many people there.
We were very privileged to hear from Nick and Oliver, two speakers with different experiences of discovering music with a hearing loss. For Nick, a sudden sensorineural hearing loss and subsequent tinnitus compromised his career in the music industry and his greatest passion, whereas Oliver, born with a high frequency hearing loss, faced the challenge of learning to play and appreciate music. Both speakers have overcome their difficulties and it was very emotional and inspiring to hear their stories. Many thanks to both of them for their honesty – we at Aston Hearing will take their advice on board and we hope that it resonated with many of you as well.
We all managed to raise £564 for Hearing Link, through 100% of the tickets sold and your support in the charity raffle. This is a fantastic amount, which Hearing Link will put to good use in helping families to adjust to life after a hearing loss. There are more opportunities to give to Hearing Link, through our 1 in 500 raffle or by buying the nuts or chocolates for sale in Reception.
Aside from the valuable information on music and hearing loss, we really enjoyed getting together with so many of our clients, whether we have been seeing you for years or are just getting to know you. These events show the importance of socialising and sharing our stories. Hearing loss can be isolating, but our connections with Hearing Link and with each other can help everyone to move forward. We promise to do many more events like this – if you enjoyed it, or know someone who would have, please let us know so that we can send invitations for next time.
If you missed the evening and would like information on what was discussed or on our charity please phone 01494 733840 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
