Learn to Lipread

Learn to Lipread

Are you curious about lipreading? Want to try it out?

The new term is starting the week beginning 13th January and Judy Perry is welcoming people of all levels of hearing and lipreading abilities to her classes.

So…why learn to lipread?

  • It helps you to better understand speech in noisy situations. Struggling to hear in background noise is one of the first signs of hearing loss, and is the most common hearing issue that our clients tell us about. Learning to lipread will give you more confidence at social events by helping you to keep up in group conversations.
  • It can be a lifesaver if you lose more hearing. Hearing levels change as we age, and with the prevalence of Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss and other ear conditions you never know when you might need to rely on your lipreading skills.
  • Lipreading helps you to be a better communicator. Lipreading is not just for those who have hearing loss – for their friends and family, lipreading teaches you essential skills for communicating with people who cannot hear as well as you, and can help you to empathise with having hearing challenges.
  • It’s informal, sociable and fun. Classes offer the chance to meet others in similar situations and share hearing tips.

Judy’s classes run in Gerrards Cross (Tuesdays 12.30pm & 3pm) and Wendover (Fridays 1.30pm). If you would like to attend, or for more information please contact Aston Hearing or email judy.lipreading@gmail.com.
