A HEAR TODAY EVENT
Tennis season is here! The strawberries and cream are ready and waiting and in the run up to Wimbledon, the top players are practising at pre-Wimbledon grass court tournaments around the country.
This is the perfect time to be inspired to be more active and participate in a summer sport so this year, why not try tennis? This is one sport all the family can play together and I am delighted to report that perfect hearing is not a prerequisite. You can play tennis with little or no hearing you just need the right support.
Last year I experienced a total loss of hearing and discovered the difficulties this introduced to the game. I am a social, club player of no great standard, but I have a passion for the sport both as a player and follower of the professionals. Deafness should not be a barrier that ever stops me enjoying both.
Deaf tennis is played at the very highest level and indeed our own Team GB will be competing at the Deaflympics in July over in Turkey.
Hearing loss does not stop you having a lot of fun on a tennis court. To start you off with Deaf tennis we have a great tennis event booked.
Why not come and join us on Saturday 5th August from 12-5pm to try Deaf tennis for yourself. It will be a fun-filled afternoon of tennis games and mini competitions for all ages and all abilities. You may have perfect hearing, none at all or somewhere in between but this FREE event will cater for all.
There will be prizes and a great cream tea all served in the friendly grounds of the Chesham Bois Lawn Tennis and Squash Club (CBLTSC) in Amersham, Bucks. All details are on our website and all we ask is that you let us know you are coming by replying online. We want to make sure we have enough scones and cake for all!!!
