AUDIOLOGIST
Les Powney’s journey into audiology is a testament to his diverse background and unwavering commitment to helping others. With a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Exeter, he initially pursued a career in desktop publishing software before seeking a balance between working with people and technology.
In 2004, Les made a pivotal career shift by training in audiology in Manchester, excelling with a distinction in both theory and practical examinations. Over the past 20+ years, he has positively impacted thousands of lives by addressing hearing needs, working both within the NHS and privately.
“We seem to have a deep-seated reluctance to recognise and act on hearing loss, but attitudes to many health issues changed with the covid pandemic and I see an increased willingness now to accept and work to resolve the communication difficulty hearing loss brings.”
When asked about his favourite sound Les said the sound of genuine, heartfelt uncontrolled laughter.
“I am now a keen advocate of the independent sector which allows our clients access to the best diagnostic equipment and the very latest digital hearing aid technology.”
