EAR AND HEARING CARE FOR ALL! LET’S MAKE IT A REALITY
World Hearing Day is an annual advocacy campaign to raise global awareness and calls for action to address hearing loss.
Each year there is a different focus set out by the World Health Organisation and this year focuses on the physical health of the ear as well as the promotion of prioritising hearing. We see, first hand, so often the difference ear health can make. From recognising an ear infection which has been causing a constant ear ache to noticing a skin defect that should be checked for sinister causes; the visual assessment of the ear is the first vital stage in all of our appointments. Then we think about the hearing care itself. The importance of giving the brain as much auditory stimulation as possible as quickly as possible has been shown to be greatly significant in lots of recent studies which is why we view the fitting of hearing aids as a stage in the journey of best possible hearing care. Our ability, as clinicians, to listen to you about your experience with hearing aids is just as important. Years and years of experience with patients have taught us that you know your hearing best so we listen, make adjustments and travel the journey alongside you. We are the experts in hearing care but you are the experts in your hearing.
